One who is seized by longing comes to Haggenberg Castle, for this place is magical. We know not exactly why. All those who are here and all those who have been here report the same: crossing the bridge and entering the castle`s island, everything is different. Everything is more relaxed, quieter, more focused, lighter. A piece of an unbroken world.

OFFER FOR AN EXCEPTIONAL STAY:

SANCTUM Haggenberg - these are two banqueting halls of 110 m² each, inviting you to cook, eat, relax, celebrate - or to pause and concentrate on your work.

A spacious bedroom offers sleeping accommodation for up to four people, while a bathtub, shower and extra WC await you in the spacious bathroom. The modern, new kitchen is fully equipped. The exclusive accommodation unit is equipped with central heating and can therefore be booked all year round. The windows open up to enchanting views of the gentle, green expanse of the Weinviertel.

If required and available, our three SUMMER ROOMS (without heating) can be rented during the warm season. They are individually designed and offer sleeping facilities for up to six people. The two spacious, private bathrooms are modernly equipped and - in keeping with an old castle - are located outside the rooms.


Schloss Haggenberg is not a building that has been renovated beyond recognition. However, it is a place where traces of the past have been consciously, lovingly preserved. Some walls are warped, some stairs are uneven. Those who prefer unique authenticity to flat perfection, those who value sensual experience, will take Haggenberg Castle into their hearts.

The exclusive living area is joined by the shared use of a spacious garden with hammocks, a rowboat and apple trees, alongside some hens and the castle dog. At the very centre is the mystical castle courtyard with an old, splashing stone fountain and adjacent grotto.

 

In addition, guests can use the 65 m² (700 sq ft) castle kitchen (summer operation only) on the ground floor. There you will also find the Honesty Bar. It is filled with food and drinks. Upon request, meals will be prepared for you.

           Sanctum — ‘sanctuary’ derives from Latin (orig. sancire = consecrate; sanctus = holy) and means a holy place.  A space, room, or place of total privacy and purity. The Rough-Luxe ambience describes unconventional luxury. Originality. Authentic, sensual moments in a unique flair. Depth. Difficult to describe. It wants to be experienced.

      Architecture & History

          Welcome to the fascinating Rough-Luxe ambience of a moated castle with 800 years of history, place of longing & hideaway only 60 km from Vienna, the capital of Austria.


          Dedicated to the Greek goddess Aphrodite. Hagenberg Castle is also known as Castle of Love, Dream Castle, Templar Castle, and a Guardian Castle. Built by Heinrich von Hackenberg.

          The Osmann*s. The name has stood for respectful, sustainable work with historical building materials for 25 years. Traditional materials, old-style craftsmanship. Avant-garde refined spaces play a central role.

          Our own ten chickens live in the garden without fencing. If your four-legged friend has a distinct hunting instinct for feathered animals, please notify us in good time before your arrival, so that we can make appropriate arrangements.


          Pets of our own: Schnuppi, a Labrador-Retriever-mix, Bella, our house cat, as well as Ludwig, our youngest family member, a Maine-Coon male cat.

          From March 24 to December 22, 2023, the market takes place weekly from 8 am to 1 pm in the Marktgasse. From May to September, a long Friday market is held on the 1st Friday of the month until 8pm with live music. The dates are 5/5, 6/2, 7/7, 8/4 and 9/1.

We open Haggenberg Castle for people who are looking for something special. With SANCTUM Haggenberg we dedicate the architectural center of the castle to you. It is our concern not to disturb the sequence of rooms, which has existed for 350 years, and generally to intervene as little as possible in the subtance. For the magic of the house lies precisely in this unconventionality. What Haggenberg Castle does not have: En suite bathrooms, televisions and wellness areas. What there is: a lot of peace and inspiration.
